Spirit provides and manages the state's Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network for state agencies, universities, K-12 schools, libraries, city and county governments. The network supports Layer 3 and Layer 2 connections and creates a flexible network architecture for increased performance and stability.

  • The network provides a means to tie offices in Columbia and other metropolitan areas to rural offices to use for voice, data and video services. It is highly scalable and provides seamless, secure connectivity and continuity anywhere in the state.
  • Spirit uses a Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) in its core network, which has the inherent ability to restore communications within 50 milliseconds.
  • With Spirit's MPLS network your data never touches the public Internet. It remains on Spirit's private fiber–based network ensuring data security and privacy.
  • The network has a fully redundant core that is managed by our Network Operations Center (NOC) in Columbia 24/7/365.

Whether you need to connect securely and privately point to point, inter-site (LAN) or multi-site (WAN), our Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) and Sprit's Virtual Private Routed Network (VPRN) can do it all- start to finish.

Spirit's technical consultants can help you meet your network needs and eliminate separate circuits for voice and data.
