Spirit and the state of South Carolina have been partners in providing telecommunication services to state agencies for more than 16 years.
Spirit provides and manages the state's Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network for state agencies, universities, K-12 schools, libraries, city and county governments. The network supports Layer 3 and Layer 2 connections and creates a flexible network architecture for increased performance and stability.

- Spirit uses a Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) in its core network, which has the inherent ability to restore communications within 50 milliseconds.
- With Spirit's MPLS network your data never touches the public Internet. It remains on Spirit's private fiber–based network ensuring data security and privacy.
- The network has a fully redundant core that is managed by our Network Operations Center (NOC) in Columbia 24/7/365.
